Football Academy with Declan Fergus Coaching Academy

PLAY LIKE THE STARS: learn to play 1-1 like Messi; run with the ball like Pogba; finish like Suarez or play a killer pass like Toni Kross.

Excited that we have a new coach joining us at Excel. Declan is an Academy Coach at Heart of Midlothian FC and owner of ‘Declan Fergus Coaching Academy’.

Through this programme players will improve their essentials: Skill, Speed, Strength, Spirit and game Sense, while having Serious fun!

We achieve this through an intensive focus on individual skills and small group play. Become comfortable with the ball with both feet, become faster with and without the ball, become more confident and enjoy football more.

Excel Football camp's vision is of happy boys and girls of all ages and abilities improving their game and sportsmanship.

Excel camp vision is to light the fire in young players, to foster a love of football and sport in general through our Serious Fun Environment (a mixture of challenging, intensive, enjoyable and age/ability training).

Coaches

All our coaches are qualified to at least a UK Coaching Certificate Level 1 standard although many coaches are qualified to a higher standard. The vast majority of coaches will be first aid qualified and will be completing some form of further study in sport, e.g. Sports Coaching or PE Teaching. The coaches will also have a variety of previous coaching experience. While the coaches are there to make sure all the children are having fun, learning new sports skills and making friends they are also responsible for making sure the children are participating in a safe and age appropriate activities.

For specialist camps you may need to check the main activity page fro additional details.

For the All Sports camp wear clothing suitable for the season and a full active day eg shorts and tracksuit bottoms, trainers, fleece and a waterproof. We like to get outside as much as possible.

Due to allergies Excel does not provide food. Bring snacks and a packed lunch full of nutritous food, fit for a full active day. Sweets are not a good source of energy! St George's often provide a snack at the end of the day but this will be given after sign out, to allow you to decide if it is suitable.

Bring a refillable water bottle. Water is available at the water fountains for refills.

If you need to bring medicine you will be asked to fill out a form at the start of the week and this will be kept stored for you in case it is required. This can be stored in a fridge if required.

Please do not bring ipads, tablets or telephones. If you do need a telephone, you will be asked to hand it in at the start of the day. This is to protect against images that may be taken of children.
