Excel+ Activities

Cooking with the ESFW at Kirkliston

Our new cookery camp will take kids on a culinary journey of exploration using fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as good quality meat and fish, pulses and much more. Cooking together in the morning, kids will learn a number of techniques and skills for life which will help maintain a balanced diet of incredibly tasty dishes.

The children will then join the All Sports camp for the remainder of the day participating in team events, film making and sports tournaments. The price is inclusive of the All Sports summer camp.

Coaches

All our coaches are qualified to at least a UK Coaching Certificate Level 1 standard although many coaches are qualified to a higher standard. The vast majority of coaches will be first aid qualified and will be completing some form of further study in sport, e.g. Sports Coaching or PE Teaching. The coaches will also have a variety of previous coaching experience. While the coaches are there to make sure all the children are having fun, learning new sports skills and making friends they are also responsible for making sure the children are participating in a safe and age appropriate activities.

All equipment is provided but you are welcome to bring your own specialist equipment if you prefer.

Wear clothing suitable for the season and a full active day eg shorts and tracksuit bottoms, trainers, fleece and a waterproof. We like to get outside as much as possible.

Due to allergies Excel does not provide food. Bring snacks and a packed lunch full of nutritous food fit for a full, active day. Sweets are not a good source of energy! St George's often provide a snack at the end of the day but this will be given after sign out, to allow you to decide if it is suitable.

Bring a refillable water bottle. Water is available at the water fountains for refills.

If you need to bring medicine you will be asked to fill out a form at the start of the week and this will be kept stored for you in case it is required. This can be stored in a fridge if required.

Please do not bring ipads, tablets or telephones. If you do need a telephone, you will be asked to hand it in at the start of the day. This is to protect the taking of images of children.
