Edinburgh School of Rock
The EDINBURGH ROCK SCHOOL Summer Camp is coming to Excel Sports this summer to offer a fantastic and jam packed week course of pure rock action! We offer a premiere 5-day program to beginners as well as improvers, which is based on the unique brand of simplified pop and rock music training in guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and vocals, and sports.
We've been successfully rolling out our tried and tested format of learning across Edinburgh over the last 2 years and have even raised money for the Sick Kids Foundation through our live Rock School concerts.

It is without question the best program we offer, and students will not only get an opportunity to experience the fun of “jamming” together in pop and rock bands right from the very start of their courses, but also play in a band live on stage, record a DVD and receive a course packed with premiere music education and loads of fun. AWESOME! Second to none in amateur musician training, Edinburgh Rock School is the premiere music camp for young musicians, offering a variety of high-energy, exciting, professional learning experiences. SECTIONALS
Whether it's pop or punk, metal or blues, our professional instructors provide the guidance, development, and refinement necessary to foster essential fundamental growth and development. During the sessions, students will be divided up according to instrument. They will work on repertoire for the band sessions and look at techniques and styles particular to their instrument.
WORKSHOPS
The workshops will be different every day and will include demonstrations from staff members. They will cover a range of subjects such as how to get the most out of rehearsal time, song-writing, performance techniques, arranging songs, understanding the role of each instrument within a band, sound-checking and the music business.
BANDS
All students will be divided up into bands and practice original material they've put together during the week and also some well known covers from the likes of AC/DC, Kings of Leon and Snow Patrol! They will rehearse songs to perform at the Friday afternoon gig in front of all the friends and family.

Andrew Stowell BMus (Hons)

Over the past decade or so Andrew has performed and taught extensively in Scotland and further afield. Having cut his teeth on the Edinburgh live music scene as both a lead and bass guitarist, he went on to study music at Napier University's Ian Tomlin school of music, specialising in classical guitar performance. Currently tutoring in classical guitar at the University of Edinburgh and Stevenson College, he has also taught at St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh. Meanwhile Andrew maintains a large roster of private students in Glasgow and Edinburgh, aged from 6 to 65. He loves teaching all styles of electric and acoustic guitar, from classic rock and blues through to contemporary rock, pop and indie, via funk, reggae, folk, classical
guitar and anything else in between!
OTHER DETAILS
As there are only 12 places available on this course, allocation is strictly on a first-come first-serve basis, so please enquire early as this will be a very popular choice. We shall be able to provide some of the instruments, though please advise us whether you are able to bring your own electric/bass guitar with an amp and lead. Our drum kits are electronic kits made by Roland which are fantastic for practice, though, of course, we will have a full live drum kit too!
All instrumentalists must bring their own instrument and a music stand. Guitarists, bass players and keyboard players will also need an amp and a lead. All equipment should be labelled clearly with the student's name.
Trav and Rav have also established a superb partnership with Live Music in Newington and Hard Rock Café, on George Street who both are supporting the Rock School in various ways.
Due to popularity, places will fill up fast at the rock school summer camp, so take advantage of this unique opportunity now....Come and join the fun – For those about to rock…we salute you!
Trav says “We teach guitar, bass, drums and singing. Anyone can come along to learn with us, from those who’ve never picked up an instrument before to those who have a degree of knowledge already and just want to improve. It’s great fun too as the weekly sessions also enable customers to experience the excitement of “jamming” together in a rock band setting right from the very start of their courses.”
Rav says “They will get a huge buzz out of it. It’s not just about teaching them. We hope to instil in them a love of their instruments so they’ll continue to play in bands for many years to come.”
When booking this event, please specify their instrument of choice from Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar or Drums, and level of ability or experience (if any).
