16^th – 20^th July a total immersion French week of leaning and sports.

The aim of this Fun French total immersion course designed for children and young people aged 6 to 11 years is to provide an exciting summer challenge to boost language learning through the classroom and workshops, and gaining confidence in using French whilst playing sports.

Each morning groups of children will be engaged in projects and themes within a classroom setting with a French teacher from the French Institute in Edinburgh.  Building on what the children and young people bring in experience, a rich vocabulary will grow, and they will learn to confidently develop through dialogue with each other.  The immersion programme will help candidates to develop, to gain confidence needed to engage in French, to explain in French, to help each other and persevere though humour!

Each afternoon, groups of children will join in a series of sports and activities where only French is spoken.  By reinforcing vocal skills in play will help support the candidates to improve their confidence by externalising the language and learning to engage and respond naturally in French.

Language immersion helps participants to become functionally proficient, and in turn this aids problem solving skills and encourage children’s interest in the language and culture to ensure a successful approach to learning a second language.
